In the news this week: a weather data provider partners with platform provider for connected and autonomous vehicles, a data platform provider’s offering now integrates with Azure, and more analytics solutions are now delivered via the cloud.

Keeping pace with news and developments in the real-time analytics market can be a daunting task. We want to help by providing a summary of some of the items our staff came across each week. Here is a short list of some news from this week:

Vaisala, a provider of environmental and weather data, and Renovo, an automotive software company, announced Vaisala will provide data to the Renovo Platform for connected and autonomous vehicles (CAVs). Once implemented, automated vehicles using the Renovo Platform will be able to access Vaisala’s enhanced road surface state data and environmental intelligence. This data, coupled with Vaisala’s algorithms and analytics systems, will provide observational intelligence to help CAVs operate safely in any weather condition.

 Cloudera, the enterprise data cloud company, announced the Cloudera Data Platform (CDP) powered by Microsoft Azure. CDP is an integrated data platform that is easy to secure, manage, and deploy. Now available on Azure, it delivers powerful, self-service analytics with a consistent Azure experience and enterprise-grade performance across hybrid environments with the security and governance policies companies require today. 

SAP S/4 HANA announced that SAP Cloud Analytics is now delivered standard with SAP S/4 HANA Cloud. SAP Analytics Cloud is an analytics solution that brings together BI, planning, and predictive to the cloud, and with analytics available on any device, insights can be delivered anytime, anywhere.

Looker, which was recently acquired by Google for $2.6B, announced Looker 7 – a new version of the platform that the company touts as “going beyond business intelligence.” Through integrations with apps including Dropbox, Box, Google Drive, HubSpot CRM, and others, the latest update delivers new enhancements. These enhancements include a new development framework for building powerful data experiences within and outside of Looker, reimagined BI experiences out-of-the-box that improve collaboration and data flow across common business tools, enterprise-class security, and a range of choices for multi-cloud hosting.
