In this week’s real-time analytics news: Lenovo intros next-gen data science workstations, AWS adds new Amazon EC2 DL1 instances for training ML models, and more.
Keeping pace with news and developments in the real-time analytics market can be a daunting task. We want to help by providing a summary of some of the items our staff came across each week. Here are some of the news items from this week:
Lenovo launched the next generation of its data science workstations. The complete “out of the box” solution includes high-performance hardware, pre-installed software applications, ThinkShield security, and dedicated support for AI workflows. The workstations support hybrid remote computing and can be purchased through Lenovo’s Device-as-a-Service (DaaS) program. Additionally, the workstations can be paired with Lenovo’s other ThinkEdge and ThinkSystem AI hardware, software, and service offerings.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced the general availability of Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) DL1 instances, a new instance type designed for training machine learning models. DL1 instances are powered by Gaudi accelerators from Habana Labs (an Intel company) to provide up to 40% better price-performance for training machine learning models than the latest GPU-powered Amazon EC2 instances.
Red Hat announced Azure Red Hat OpenShift on Microsoft Azure for U.S. Government as a public preview. The solution extends the benefits of the service to public sector organizations that require stringent levels of IT security and data management. Once generally available, the service is expected to add key IT security and regulatory certifications and is intended to pass compliance tests, such as:
- Department of Defense (DoD) Impact Level (IL) 4
- DoD IL 5
- FedRAMP High Authorization
BMC announced several new BMC Helix and Control-M innovations. The new BMC innovations help customers accelerate their efforts to become an Autonomous Digital Enterprise (ADE), a framework that embraces intelligent tech-enabled systems across every facet of the business to thrive during seismic changes. Today’s announcements allow customers to:
- Improve performance of business-critical services with real-time insights
- Access workflow orchestration benefits through common cloud services tools
- Deliver immersive and engaging customer and employee experiences
- Achieve service assurance through intelligent automation
- Give data personas workflow flexibility by applying DevOps practices to DataOps
- Increase agility with ServiceOps.
Illumio announced Illumio CloudSecure, a new solution that gives organizations agentless visibility and enables teams to build and orchestrate dynamic cloud workload policies at scale using native controls in their public, hybrid, and multi-cloud environments. Now, security teams can secure their entire environment, including cloud-native applications such as platform as a service (PaaS), serverless, cloud-managed containers, and managed database services, in addition to workloads running in public and hybrid clouds, data centers, and endpoints.
Franz Inc. announced AllegroGraph 7.2, which provides Data Fabric tools, including Graph Neural Networks (GNNs), Graph Virtualization, Apache Spark graph analytics, and streaming graph pipelines. With AllegroGraph 7.2, users can create Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) and take advantage of a mature AI approach for Knowledge Graph enrichment via text processing for news classification, question and answer, search result organization, event prediction, and more.
Neu.ro announced the launch of the Neu.ro AI Cloud, a zero-emissions AI cloud integrated with a complete stack of MLOps tooling for the entire machine learning lifecycle. Located in atNorth’s, the Neu.ro AI Cloud uses 100% renewable geothermal + hydro energy and free-air cooling due to its near-Arctic location in Iceland. The MLOps offerings of the AI cloud help with AI pipeline creation, data management, training, and monitoring and seamlessly integrate with AI tools including Pachyderm, W&B, DVC, Seldon, MLflow, NNI, and more.
SUSE announced the availability of SUSE Linux Enterprise (SLE) Micro 5.1, a lightweight and secure operating system built for containerized and virtualized workloads. SLE Micro 5.1 adds edge-focused security features such as secure device onboarding and live patching, and it enables the modernizing of workloads with support for IBM Z and LinuxONE. In other SUSE news, the company announced the acquisition of NeuVector. With this acquisition, NeuVector significantly enhances the enterprise-grade security capabilities in the SUSE Rancher container management platform.
Anomalo formally launched its data quality platform product that helps teams trust the data they use to make decisions and build products. Anomalo addresses the problems of missing, stale, and corrupt data, as well as data prone to unexpected or unwelcome changes by monitoring enterprise data and automatically detecting and root-causing data issues, allowing teams to resolve any hiccups with their data before making decisions, running operations or powering models.
Trifacta announced a strategic integration with dbt Core. The initial integration enables dbt Core users to import datasets produced from dbt Core models into Trifacta for visual data profiling during model development. With this new integration, dbt Core users can take advantage of Trifacta’s visual data profiling to understand key statistics and data patterns generated by their dbt models before operationalizing them.
Aternity announced Aternity User Journey Intelligence, expanding its digital experience management (DEM) solution into customer service management. Aternity User Journey Intelligence provides contextualized visibility and actionable insights into user journeys across web environments. Aternity also announced support for OpenTelemetry, which will enable customers to offer a seamless digital experience for every application delivered over multi-cloud or multi-app environments.
Qlik announced the debut of Qlik Forts, a new hybrid cloud service based on the Qlik Cloud platform that securely extends Qlik’s cloud analytics capabilities to wherever data and compute needs to reside. Qlik Forts eliminates the need to move previously siloed local data for cloud analytics, ensuring the cost savings and performance benefits of SaaS while meeting every governance, jurisdiction, or policy requirement.
Ordr announced new cybersecurity features along with a Ransom-Aware Rapid Assessment service to help security teams accelerate their response to ransomware and other advanced attacks. New features include enhanced ransomware detection, visualization of ransomware communications, and risk customization to help organizations respond to cyberattacks in minutes.
InfluxData announced new capabilities for developers to expedite application building. There are several new features to help easily write Flux queries. InfluxData also introduced new InfluxDB Cloud capabilities that create a more integrated and intuitive experience for developers so they can build analytics, IoT, and cloud-native services applications quickly and to scale.
CircleCI announced Test Insights, the latest feature to CircleCI’s Insights dashboard, extending analytics functionality into a critical aspect of software development – test performance. CircleCI’s Test Insights provides visibility into the testing process, enabling teams to achieve greater velocity by quickly identifying and recovering from failed or flaky tests with higher accuracy.
Provectus announced the release of its First Open-Source Data Discovery (ODD) and Observability Platform v0.2. The update enhances the platform’s data discovery and observability capabilities while adding new features for data quality assurance and providing support of new, third-party service adapters, including Amazon Athena, Amazon SageMaker Feature Store, Feast, and Great Expectations (GE).
ABB launched ABB Ability Genix Asset Performance Management (APM) Suite for condition monitoring, predictive maintenance, and 360-degree asset performance insights for the process, utility, and transportation industries. The suite adds asset condition monitoring to existing operational technology (OT) landscapes, enables prioritization of maintenance activities based on AI-informed predictions, and provides a comprehensive overview of asset performance. By assessing the remaining useful life of industrial assets, Genix APM generates a plan for preventive maintenance
cnvrg.io announced the exclusive early release of the cnvrg.io Metacloud, a managed service enabling AI developers flexibility to run AI/ML workloads on a mix of infrastructure and hardware choices, even within the same AI/ML workflow or pipeline. cnvrg.io Metacloud introduces a new flexible interface for running AI workloads instantly: BYOC (Bring Your Own Compute) and BYOS (Bring your Own Storage) by delivering a developer-friendly portal to set up and launch AI/ML workflows using any hardware or storage service available from a partner menu. Zaloni announced a program to help customers achieve better data governance faster and more cost-effectively on Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS) with the new Zaloni Arena DataOps Platform’s Concourse package. The new program offers a 15% discount on a 1-year license for Zaloni Arena’s Concourse package and $3,000 in AWS credits (to be redeemed in the first two months). The offer will be available to new customers who purchase through AWS Marketplace, now through December 31, 2021.

Solace announced a partnership with ARS that will see ARS help enterprises across Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Croatia build digital services based on live data streams using Solace’s industry-leading event streaming and event management platform, Solace PubSub+ Platform.
Nylas announced the completion of its latest round of data protection and privacy certifications. These latest security certifications include ISO 27001, Service Organizations Control (SOC) 1 Type I, and ISAE 3402. Other notable certifications that Nylas has completed include HIPAA/HITECH, FINRA, SOC 2 Type II, GDPR, CCPA, and more.
GridGain Systems announced that GridGain Nebula, the company’s pay-as-you-go, cloud-native in-memory computing service, is now available to all GridGain and Apache Ignite users. GridGain Nebula, a SaaS solution, eliminates the complexity of configuring, provisioning, managing, optimizing, and scaling the cutting-edge in-memory computing software. Previously, Nebula was available only to the world’s largest enterprises.
InterSystems announced that its InterSystems IRIS data platform now features full native support for Python. Native Python support within the data platform allows developers to go from concept to production quickly, taking advantage of the fast-growing Python developer ecosystem, and leveraging hundreds of thousands of high-quality Python libraries.
HVR announced it has expanded its advanced SAP data extraction capabilities for SAP ERP and S/4HANA, enabling organizations to seamlessly leverage their SAP data for broader, real-time analytics. HVR simplifies the data extraction process by capturing SAP data continuously and in real-time. It equips organizations with the flexibility to seamlessly integrate SAP data into cloud-based platforms for deeper business insights and real-time analytical reporting.
Aerospike announced a partnership with Ably. The two companies plan to integrate and jointly market their solutions. Using Ably’s suite of APIs, organizations build, extend, and deliver event-driven applications for millions of concurrently connected devices. The Aerospike Real-time Data Platform manages data from systems of record all the way out to the edge, enabling organizations to act in real time across billions of transactions at petabyte scale.
Teradata and H2O.ai announced the integration of H2O AI Hybrid Cloud, the company’s AI platform, with Vantage, Teradata’s multi-cloud data platform. The integration enables Teradata and H2O.ai’s customers to quickly and easily make, deploy, and operate AI solutions that solve business problems and drive business value.
AT&T and H2O.ai jointly built an artificial intelligence feature store to manage and reuse data and machine learning engineering capabilities. The AI Feature Store is in production at AT&T, meeting the levels of performance, reliability, and scalability required to meet AT&T’s demand.
Expert.ai announced that its natural language (NL) API is now available in the AWS Marketplace. This allows AWS customers to quickly extract insight from their unstructured language data by using the expert.ai NL API with their existing AWS account.
Iguazio announced that it has become a Pure Storage technology partner. Together, the two provide enterprise-grade capabilities around data management, scale, and performance and a layer of abstraction and automation, allowing businesses to focus on their applications and not the underlying infrastructure.
Wind River announced support for Intel Atom x6000 Series and Intel Pentium and Celeron N and J Series processors and 11th Gen Intel Core processors and Intel Celeron processors. This development is part of a multi-year effort to optimize Wind River software for Intel industrial system-on-a-chip offerings (SoCs).
Quantexa launched the latest release of its data analytics platform as a response to the growing global need for better insight into massive and fast-increasing data volumes. Quantexa 2 helps users see deeper into their data and work more efficiently by introducing powerful new capabilities that boost control, functionality and reduce friction.
Shoreline.io announced a new integration with Datadog. The integration is now available in the Datadog Marketplace and provides SREs an integrated environment to debug, repair, and automate the incidents raised by Datadog monitors.
Imagimob announced that the new release of its tinyML platform is now available to its customers. The new release focuses on making it easier and faster for developers to build and deploy performance-ready tinyML applications on edge devices.
