In this week’s real-time analytics news: Hitachi Vantara added new offerings for data-focused companies to automate and simplify their cloud operations.

Keeping pace with news and developments in the real-time analytics market can be a daunting task. We want to help by providing a summary of some of the items our staff came across each week. Here are some of the news items from this week:

Hitachi Vantara announced new hybrid cloud products and services engineered for data-driven organizations who want to automate and simplify their infrastructure and operations for cloud operating models across on-premises, near-cloud, and public cloud. The new offerings include:

  • Virtual Storage Software Block (VSS Block), a software-defined data platform that extends its virtual storage platform to cloud-native applications
  • VSP E1090, its next-generation mid-range storage array with new virtual storage scale-out capabilities
  • Hitachi Ops Center Clear Sight, an AI-driven cloud management tool to support the Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform with simplified cloud-based reporting and analytics
  • Hitachi Cloud Connect, to deliver a near-cloud solution with deep integration into public cloud extending the data fabric to support cloud applications from the leading public cloud providers
  • Unified Compute Platform RS, the latest hyperconverged “cloud in a box” offering and the company’s cloud data protection appliance to ensure your data is secure across your hybrid cloud operating model

thatDot released Quine, which combines graph data and streaming technologies into a modern, developer-friendly open-source software package. Quine is freely available on GitHub and directly from the Quine Community website. Early access launch partners, community members, and contributors have already created pre-built application functions called “recipes” —to package up valuable use cases for one-click operation. These include: 

  • Blockchain Real-time Tag PropagationIngests Ethereum and propagates dirty money tags to trace money laundering.
  • CDN Cache Efficiency AnalysisContinuously monitor CDN logs to materialize real-time cache efficiency by PoP, Geography, and ASN, generating alerts and tracing root cause.
  • Apache Server Log Observability– Ingests Apache server events and observes event lineage between services.

Fujitsu announced the development of a resource toolkit offering developers guidance for evaluating the ethical impact and risks of AI systems based on international AI ethics guidelines. The toolkit consists of a variety of case studies and reference materials, including a newly developed method for clarifying ethical requirements in AI ethics guidelines. The resources are offered free of charge in Japanese now and can be downloaded here. They will soon be available in English.

cnvrg.io, an Intel company, announced the release of cnvrg.io AI Blueprints to help developers quickly deliver AI applications with easy-to-use ML pipelines that can run on any infrastructure. cnvrg.io AI Blueprints are a curated, verified, and open-source library of ML model APIs and customizable pipelines to enable software developers to easily enhance their applications with AI to solve any business or product problem.

Intel launched a new version of the Intel Distribution of OpenVINO Toolkit. The solution, which is built on the foundation of oneAPI, is a tool suite for high-performance deep learning, targeted at faster, more accurate real-world results deployed into production across diverse Intel platforms from edge to cloud​. New features are built upon three-and-a-half years of developer feedback and include a greater selection of deep learning models, more device portability choices, and higher inferencing performance with fewer code changes.

Real-time analytics news in brief

Equalum announced Version 3.0 of its Continuous Data Integration Platform (CDIP). Version 3.0 includes support for all required cloud targets, expanding support for multiple Azure, AWS and Google Cloud targets, to now include Microsoft Azure, Amazon RDS for Oracle, Postgres, MySQL and more plus Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Google BigQuery, Google DataProc, Google Cloud Storage (GCS) and Google Cloud Database.  Also supported are Oracle Databases on Google, SQL Server, and Azure.

Ahana announced new security features to its Ahana Cloud for Presto managed service. They include multi-user support for Presto and Ahana, fine-grained access control for data lakes with deep Apache Ranger integration, and audit support for all access. These are in addition to the recently announced one-click integration with AWS Lake Formation, a service that makes it easy to set up a secure data lake in a matter of hours.

Couchbase announced Couchbase Mobile 3, an edge-ready data platform that empowers mobile developers and edge architects to build fully native, modern applications in the cloud, at the edge, and on mobile and IoT devices. Couchbase Mobile 3 introduces an embedded document database for mobile, desktop, and custom embedded hardware with built-in synchronization capabilities. With Couchbase Mobile 3’s strengthened edge capabilities, development teams can focus on the core competency of their applications without worrying about speed and connectivity issues.

Mage announced the general availability of its product, a cloud-based tool that specializes in helping product developers build ranking models that increase user engagement and retention. Mage works by first connecting to existing data sources like Amplitude or Snowflake. Once a user adds their data, Mage will provide guided suggestions for cleaning and enhancing that data to maximize the model’s performance during training. 

Noble.AI announced the rollout of AWS GovCloud support for their Science-Based AI Platform. By choosing to enable GovCloud, Noble.AI customers can now immediately benefit from the highest levels of security and export control compliance, as well as from other advanced feature sets.

SambaNova Systems announced SambaNova GPT Banking, a purpose-built solution for the financial services industry, enabling banks to create clear market separation in AI by jump-starting their deep learning language capabilities in weeks, not years.

SmartCow introduced its new audio-visual development kit, Apollo. Built around NVIDIA Jetson Xavier NX, Apollo lets developers create applications with conversational AI capabilities.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise announced that it is expanding its enterprise connectivity offerings with new capabilities for private networking across both 5G and Wi-Fi, enabling new enterprise and industrial applications from edge to cloud. Pre-integrated with radio access capabilities from leading vendors, the private 5G solution can be deployed quickly, flexibly, and as a service with HPE GreenLake.

Wind River announced support for new Intel Xeon D processors as part of a multi-year effort to optimize Wind River Studio for Intel IoT system-on-chip (SoC) offerings. The combined technologies address the challenges of enabling greater compute in the space- and power-constrained rugged environments of verticals such as aerospace and defense in order to meet the demands of edge applications.  

Satori announced the release of the Satori Data Access Controller (DAC) Manager, which enables companies to easily secure access to sensitive data stored in customer-hosted Virtual Private Clouds (VPC) and automatically apply updates and upgrades with no downtime. With this release, Satori now offers secure data access across any deployment environment, including multi-region and multi-cloud.

Partnerships, collaborations, and more

BMC announced that it has entered into a multi-year agreement to deliver BMC Helix service and operations management solutions on Google Cloud. Customers get secure, low-latency cloud infrastructure and streamlined access to Google Cloud capabilities that give companies of all sizes access to an enterprise-grade solution on their journey to become an Autonomous Digital Enterprise (ADE).

Knoa Software and Namos Solutions announced a partnership to provide Global organizations with a comprehensive solution of software and services focused on delivering business value in the areas of cloud migration, help desk efficiencies, user productivity, and Oracle Cloud adoption.

Sway AI announced a partnership with Trilogy Networks to join the Rural Cloud Initiative (RCI), a unique coalition of network and edge innovation partners committed to promoting and accelerating the digital transformation of rural America. Through this partnership, they will deliver a complete AI-enabled precision agriculture solution for farmers.

Hexagon has acquired ETQ, adding its SaaS-based QMS (quality management system) software platform to the Hexagon AB portfolio. ETQ’s applications come with out-of-the-box functionality and no-code configurability, enabling customers to tailor the solution to their needs.

SolidRun announced, in collaboration with IoT.Bzh, new Linux distributions available for SolidSense-branded enterprise-grade IoT edge gateways. These software packages are available to SolidSense customers via redpesk, a SaaS platform that offers pre-integrated, ready-to-use software for a variety of industrial IoT applications.

SoftwareONE unveiled Goatpath by SoftwareONE, a new brand focused on delivering the next generation of technologies, platforms, and products at speed. Offerings developed under the brand will change the way customers can buy, sell, and manage their software, cloud, and services.

 Vertica announced integration with H3C ONEStor to deliver the benefits of cloud-native analytics to enterprise data centers. Together, Vertica and H3C empower analytically-driven companies to elastically scale capacity and performance as data volumes grow and as machine learning initiatives become a business imperative – all from within hybrid environments.
