GreenLake Central is platform- and solution-agnostic, able to monitor, manage, and optimize cloud resources from Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, and Google Cloud Platform.
As part of HPE’s shift to an everything-as-a-service subscription model, it recently announced the general availability of its service layer, GreenLake Central.
The platform controls all cloud solutions, whether at on-premise, cloud, or edge locations, for businesses looking to offload data management to a third party.

This, according to a statement from HPE, enables IT staff to focus on business outcomes and develop new applications and services for customers.
“This is the huge next step for GreenLake, taking what started out as a capacity and consumption model and now providing the tools to drive outcomes for businesses,” said HPE vice president of customer experience, Erik Vogel.
GreenLake Central is platform- and solution-agnostic, able to monitor, manage, and optimize cloud resources from Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, and Google Cloud Platform. Aggregated cost data will be made available in a single portal, providing businesses with a clear overview of cloud costs.
“Now the customer can see exactly what they’re spending on-premises and off-premises with AWS and Azure,” said Vogel. “This is not the big complex bill they get from those public cloud providers. It is simplified and consistent so they can see a true comparison across GreenLake, AWS, and Azure.”
GreenLake Central also has tools to monitor security, capacity, compliance, and consumption metrics.
HPE outlined a plan to offer its entire portfolio as a service in two years, which would include all hardware and software offerings. GreenLake Central is the first step towards that vision, with the full GreenLake platform expected to be available in the next year.
