The new IoT accelerator will combine Telstra’s cellular IoT capabilities and Ericsson’s connectivity services.
Telstra and Ericsson announced a partnership to bring IoT connectivity to global enterprises and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Their collaboration will integrate Ericsson’s Connectivity Management services from Ericsson into Telstra’s IoT solution and network.
Beginning on March 30, 2019, Telstra’s enterprise customers will be able to manage, access and monitor their IoT devices and networked assets on a local, national or global level using Telstra’s Narrowband-IoT (NB-IoT) and CAT-M1 technology.
Partnerships in the IoT Market
The partnership will offer customers an easier way to manage and scale connected devices and applications. The two companies’ combined NB-IoT and Cat-M1 technologies and international enterprises across a range of industries will support the expanding IoT market and deliver international IoT connectivity solutions.

The collaboration builds on the 2018 NB-IoT deployment that increased coverage to over 3.5 million square kilometers and allowed data connections up to 100km. The IoT Accelerator solution and tech that facilitates easier product and service deployment on Telstra’s network will support the eSIM capabilities. This approach will allow enterprise and OEMs to benefit from a local SIM profile.
