Databricks, the creator of Apache Spark, announced this week the integration of Snowflake Computing’s data warehousing platform, which they say will accelerate innovation and streamline integration.
The strategic partnership will target AI developers and enterprises looking to deploy machine learning technologies. Data silos and inconsistent data sets are two of the main issues facing artificial intelligence (AI) development. The integration gives customers more leverage over the Databricks Unified Analytics platform, improving scalability and reliability.

Databricks and Snowflake Computing already had multiple customers using both products, including Hotel Tonight, Overstock.com, and Rue Gilt Groupe. With the announcement of this strategic partnerships, these enterprises stand to gain in improvements to the service and potential reductions in cost.
“We’re seeing an increasing need for enterprises to analyze large data sets, and to enable the optimized use of Spark to clean and transform that data for machine learning and AI,” Snowflake’s Vice President of Alliances, Walter Aldana said. “Our partnership with Databricks makes it even easier to access and process large volumes of data and use dynamic streaming to drive powerful machine learning insights.”
